The South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce has opened applications for its next Membership Director after announcing that longtime director Frank Shepard will leave the post to become Economic Development Manager for the City of Foley.
According to a news release, Shepard has played a central role in expanding membership engagement and strengthening ties throughout the region’s business community. His new position with the city advances that work as he shifts to recruiting retail, hospitality and medical sectors to Foley.
“We are deeply grateful for the hard work, professionalism and dedication Frank has brought to his role,” President and CEO Travis Valentine said in the release. “During his time with us, he built strong relationships and helped connect hundreds of businesses to the Chamber — impactful work that will continue to benefit our community for years to come. In his new position, Frank will focus on recruiting retail, hospitality and medical sectors to the City of Foley. This role will allow him to remain an advocate for the South Baldwin Chamber and we are confident he will continue to be a partner and champion for our organization.”
Chamber leaders congratulated Shepard on the transition and said they expect continued collaboration as he steps into the new role.
The open Membership Director position is considered a key leadership post that supports the Chamber’s mission and its diverse network of businesses. The organization is seeking a relationship-focused professional with strong communication skills and experience in recruitment and retention. The director will represent the Chamber at events, lead outreach efforts and ensure members receive ongoing value from their investment.
The role reports to the Chamber’s president and CEO and includes responsibilities such as attending networking events, prospecting new members, managing retention efforts, guiding ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings and coordinating with programs like Business of the Month. Duties also include monitoring investor accounts through calls, emails and in-person visits.
The job involves work in offices, public spaces and business settings, along with time dedicated to direct outreach in the community.
