South Alabama Senior Travelers visit Georgia

Twenty-one members of the South Alabama Senior Travelers visited western Georgia Nov. 28 thru Dec. 1. Several places were visited beginning with a tour of the Hyundai plant in Montgomery, Ala. Then it was on to Warm Springs, Ga., for a wine tasting and tour at a local winery. Next, a visit to Roosevelt’s Little White House in Warm Springs.

An afternoon at Coca Cola Space/Science Center in Columbus was quite impressive at the Omnisphere theatre where all the universe was explored starting with our own star, the sun. A visit to the Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain, Ga., took everyone back to their childhood. Animals in their natural habitat came to the safari bus for that special treat the passengers had for them. The National Civil War Naval Museum explains both navies from the civil war. The highlight of the trip was a guided tour of Callaway Gardens ending with a drive through the “Fantasy in Lights” exhibit.

South Alabama Senior Travelers is open to anyone over the age of 50 who likes to travel .

Meetings are held the second and fourth Thursday of each month with the exception of December. The next meeting is Jan. 11 at the Foley Senior Center, 10:00 a.m. Board members are available for trip sign up or other information at 9:15 a.m.
