Dr. Frank “Woody” Woodson Smyth, 52, a resident of Dothan, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

He was born Aug. 31, 1955 in Foley, the son of Frank and Elizabeth Woodson Smyth. He was a graduate of Foley High School and the University of Alabama.

He received his medical degree from the University of South Alabama and began his practice in urology in 1986 in Selma, where he practiced until 1992. He joined Urological Associates in Dothan in 1993.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity where he served on the vestry.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Smyth of Dothan; son, Drew Smyth of Dothan; and an aunt, Virginia Reeves of Troy.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 19 at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity with the Rev. Ede Plovanich officiating. A reception will follow the service.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Episcopal Church, 205 Holly Lane, Dothan, AL 36301 or to Covenant Hospice, 2855 Ross Clark Circle Suite 110, Dothan, AL 36301.
