Campfires, music and sweet treats will take center stage later this month as the city of Gulf Shores prepares to host its annual S’mores on the Shore event.
The gathering is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, beginning at 6 p.m. at Gulf Place, 101 Gulf Shores Parkway. Set along the city’s public beach, the event invites residents and visitors to enjoy an evening of free entertainment and activities on the sand.
Organizers say the family-friendly celebration will feature complimentary s’mores packets along with a live DJ, a balloon artist and face painting. Fresh watermelon will also be available, provided by Wheeles Realty.
In addition to the activities, attendees can explore offerings from several local vendors including the Hog Wild food truck, the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo and Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism. Additional vendors are also expected to participate.
Families are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs and gather with friends while enjoying the Gulf Coast setting.
"2010 marked the inaugural S'mores on the Shore event, which has quickly become one of our most popular events among residents and guests,” said Brigette Reynolds, Special Events Manager. “I am also especially proud to have been the one to foster this event! We are thrilled to bring free fun and excitement to our community, and we can’t wait to see you there!"
City officials say the event reflects ongoing efforts to provide accessible community programming and promote local tourism. Gulf Shores hosts a range of seasonal events each year designed to draw visitors and offer residents recreational opportunities along the coast.
