William Patrick “Pat” Smith, 62, of Douglas, Ga., died peacefully Monday, Jan. 25, 2010.

He had recently moved to Fairhope to be near his daughters and grandson. For many years, he has been a faithful servant of God imbuing all he met with God’s Love, God’s Word, and God’s Humor. He was and is our Good Ole Daddy.

He was a 1965 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County where he was a National Merit Scholar. While attending Georgia Tech he suffered a near fatal auto accident. After a long recovery he graduated from Augusta College and was a long time employee of the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Douglas, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Vernon Smith.

Survivors include his mother, Maxine Relihan Smith of Augusta, Ga.; two daughters, Mary Barrett Kendall-Smith of Fairhope and Sarah Daniel Smith of Fort Worth, Texas; and one grandson, James Kendall of Fairhope; a brother, Dr. Randolph Relihan (Becky) Smith of Augusta, Ga.; two nieces, Katherine Cross Smith of New York and Rebecca Elizabeth Smith of Augusta; two nephews, Randolph Relihan (Monica) Smith Jr. of Atlanta and Michael Daniel Smith of Clemson, S.C.; two grand nephews, Randolph Relihan Smith III and Daniel Cheatham Smith of Atlanta; and one grand niece, Maxine Irene Smith.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29 at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Richard Sanders officiating. Visitation will follow the service.
