Silverhill School advises parents of new pickup, dropoff policies

SILVERHILL — Because of a new “no idle” law that is now in effect, parents dropping off and picking up children at Silverhill Elementary School need to be aware of the following changes in procedure.

Parents will not be allowed to sit in the car line with their car running. It the goal of Silverhill School to dismiss students as quickly as possible. Therefore, all car riders will report to the cafeteria and will be released as their ride arrives. Parents picking up children will be required to have a “place card” on the dash of their car. Cars will pull into the horseshoe in a double line. Those students will be called from the cafeteria and once all of the cars in the horseshoe area have been loaded those cars will be released and the next group will pull into the horseshoe area.

Pre K Program

Pre K children must be signed in and signed out at the Pre K room, therefore parents who have other children at the school need to be aware that their older children will also report to the cafeteria. Parents will let Mrs. Ramey know, and she will call the cafeteria and have those students dismissed. They will meet their parent on the sidewalk in front of the Pre K room.

Bus Riders

All bus riders will be dismissed to the gym. NO STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO BE PICKED UP AT THE GYM due to the “no idle” law and for safety purposes.

Extended Day

This year Extended Day will be located in the Band Room next to the gym. All extended day students will be dismissed with the bus riders in the afternoon and not allowed to be picked up by parents until 3:15 for safety and traffic concerns.

Checkouts and Schedule Changes

Parents who need to make any changes to their child’s routine must call the office before 2 p.m. Also, no child can be checked out after 2:30 p.m. unless sick or there is an emergency.

For more information call the school at 945-5188.
