SILVERHILL, Alabama — Silverhill Police Department along with the Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, has arrested a Silverhill man for distribution and possession of child pornography, specifically, possession with intent to disseminate obscene materials containing visual depictions of persons under the age of 17 involved in obscene acts, according to a release from Silverhill Police Chief Kevin Brock.
Silverhill resident James Darnell Smith, 35, was booked into jail on the charges. Smith is currently being held with no bond at the Baldwin County Corrections Facility. At least nine more additional charges will be filed pending a determination by the Baldwin County District Attorney, according to Brock.
“I love to see our law enforcement community come together, especially when it comes to protecting our children,” Brock said. “Our children are vulnerable and easily victimized. We want to make sure that these predators have no place to hide. We will continue to hunt them, pursue them and prosecute them.”
