DAPHNE, Ala.—Marilyn Mannhard, a master gardener, said she would offer residents a few tips about vegetable-gardening during the summer and how to use a raised garden. The presentation will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Daphne Public Library.
Mannhard, a Fairhope native and Silverhill resident, said since the winter season will end soon, she will talk about what vegetables are good to grow during the spring and summer. She mentioned peppers, tomatoes, beans, squash and egg plant as a few of the vegetables on her agenda.
“I have a (Microsoft) PowerPoint presentation of my garden and other gardens showing ways to grow it,” she said.
Mannhard said she also would speak on raised beds and how to use them for gardening.
“Raised beds are generally constructed with wood or concrete blocks and you fill in that exterior wall with mulch and you grow in that,” she said.
“It drains better and is a better way to grow it in many cases.”
Mannhard said she would field questions from the audience, and that would direct parts of her presentation.
“Then I can address what people are most interested in,” she said.
