The Tri-City Community Foundation, an affiliate of The Community Foundation of South Alabama, has awarded a grant to Sight Savers America to provide comprehensive eye care to 40 preschool-age children in South Alabama.

According to a news release, this initiative aims to deliver essential services, including glasses and prescribed treatments, to children in our area.

"Improving access to children's healthcare is critical in our local communities," said President and CEO of the Community Foundation of South Alabama Rebeca Byrne in the release. "We are proud to offer a grant award to Sight Savers America and support their efforts to remove socioeconomic barriers by providing important eye care to children in Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach."

Sight Savers America, a nonprofit organization, focuses on identifying and securing treatment for unmet vision and health needs. Their Chief Program Officer, Jennifer Haddox, emphasized the importance of early eye care.

"Pre-K children are particularly vulnerable to undetected eye problems and are at a critical age to receive treatment for irreversible eye disorders. When vision problems are corrected, they receive the tools necessary to pursue healthy development in and out of the classroom and can gain a new sense of independence and improved self-esteem," Haddox said. "We are very grateful for the generosity of the Tri-City Community Foundation for helping children in South Alabama."

Sight Savers America serves the eye care needs of 100,000 children annually across 16 states. For more information about their work, visit www.sightsaversamerica.org.
