Head into the new year with a clean slate and an empty filing cabinet. The cities of Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber and Gulf State Park have teamed up again this year for the Coastal Alabama Annual E-Cycling and Shred Day.
This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 7, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion on Each Beach Boulevard.
The event is free to the public and has a simple process in place. Simply drive up in the lane you are directed to and volunteers will take items from your vehicle.
"We started this event over 10 years ago and I've been really happy with its success and the support of the community," said Steve Jones, Coastal Alabama Business Chamber vice president of events and community relations. "We run rain or shine and it's a great way to both help the environment and clear out any personal clutter."
Individuals can bring personal paper documents to be shredded such as:
Attendees may also bring any electronic items for disposal, such as:
Each vehicle is limited to 50 pounds of shredding. Participants are asked to not tape or tie bags or boxes. Batteries should be removed from items before arrival.
