Sheriff's office expecting spike in holiday burglaries

The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office reminds people that as we enter the holiday season, the sheriff’s office expects a spike in thefts and burglaries.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office would encourage citizens to be vigilant during this time to assist us in fending off this increase in criminal activity.

People are asked to use common sense.  Do not leave valuables in your vehicle as they are easily broken into.  Make sure your home is secure and be a good neighbor.  If you see suspicious vehicles or persons in your neighborhood, call law enforcement.

The sheriff’s office will be diligent with close patrols and special details to deter crime.

The sheriff’s office has recently made several arrests for just such thefts and burglaries:

Investigators with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jonathon Mosley and Andrew Walters for theft of property 1st.  Mosley and Walters broke into a utility trailer and stole approximately $20,000 in DJ and band equipment. These arrests occurred on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

The East Winds Ministries Church on Hwy. 31 was burglarized and $1,200 of property was stolen.  This property included a sound board, speakers and speaker stands.  This property was able to be recovered at a pawn shop in Mobile County.

Fred McVay, who was incarcerated in the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Corrections Center, has been charged with burglary 3rd.

A residential burglary occurred on Roland Godwin Road in Bay Minette.  Four juveniles were charged for stealing numerous firearms.  The juveniles will be placed into juvenile court.  They ranged in age from 13 to 15 years old.
