81-year-old Tomasina Werner juggles involvement in nine organizations with family, faith
ByDaphne — One local woman is always on the go searching for ways to help others.
“I feel about 30 and I run around like I’m 30,” said Tomasina Werner, who has lived in Daphne’s Lake Forest subdivision since 1994 and spends her time giving back to the Jubilee City whenever she can.
Werner is a member of the Lake Forest Improvement Committee, the Daphne Beautification Committee, the Olde Towne Daphne Association, the Baldwin County Traumatic Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury Support Group and the Lake Forest Garden Club — all for which she served as publicity chairman; she is a past president of the Lake Forest Community Women’s Club and attends the Tuesday Bible Study Group and two Sunday school classes.
“One of the things I especially enjoy currently is brown-bagging lunch at ‘Small Places’ with the Traumatic Brain Injury group each Monday at noon in the Daphne Recreation Center,” Werner said. “Small Places” is a model social/recreational day program for people with TBI, staffed and supported by The Alabama Head Injury Foundation to improve life after traumatic brain injury. “We are watching train-trip videos throughout the world while having lunch together. We feel as though we are passengers on the train trip. It’s fun, educational, beautiful and a social time together.”
