SFE students evacuated due to natural gas leak

Spanish Fort Elementary School implemented its school safety plan around 11 a.m. today due to a report of a natural gas leak, according to a news release. All students were immediately evacuated to Daphne High School. The natural gas leak, which was due to construction work in the area, was quickly capped, the news release stated. Students were fed lunch at Daphne High School. The evacuation plan appears to have been implemented flawlessly, the news release stated. Once an all-clear is given by the fire department authorities, the plan is to return students to Spanish Fort Elementary for normal dismissal.
