SF man charged with Mobile bank robbery

A 26 year-old Spanish Fort man was due to be arraigned on first degree robbery charges Wednesday in Mobile County criminal court. Charles Padgett is accused of robbing the Regions Bank on Airport Boulevard Friday.
Padgett was arrested only minutes after the robbery driving a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle driven by the robber.
Mobile Police Public Information Officer, Eric Gallichant said “We did recover the money taken during the robbery during the arrest.”
Gallichant said, around 9 a.m. Friday morning a man entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. “The note indicated he was armed,” Gallichant said.
The suspect then left the bank with an undetermined amount of money—driving a black Honda Accord.
“Officers began canvassing the area,” Gallichants said. A short time later police stopped Padgett near Michigan Avenue. He was arrested and charged with the robbery.
Padgett remained in the Mobile Metro jail without bond pending his arraignment.
