‘Seniors Care’ boosting community service among graduating seniors

SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Sarah Hirschfeldt is the first Spanish Fort High School senior recognized in 2011 for her service hours as part of the annual “Seniors Care” program.

SFHS science teacher and faculty sponsor for the program Crystal Menas said the volunteer hours logged during the month of February will become the Class of 2011’s legacy.

“Our goal is to challenge the future senior classes at SFHS to surpass the number of hours we collect,” Menas said, noting the senior logging the most service hours will be announced each week, and the senior who reports the most overall hours will be honored during Awards Night in the spring.

Hirschfeldt’s hours for the week ending Feb. 11 earned her the first recognition.
