ROBERTSDALE, Ala. -- Get an early jump on your Christmas shopping this year at the George P. Thames Senior Center’s Ninth Annual Christmas Bazaar Saturday, Nov. 9 at the PZK Civic Center, 17933 Highway 104, Robertsdale.

More than 25 vendors will be selling inside and outside, including a variety of arts and crafts, handmade items, including jewelry, and works by local artists.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and there will be a variety of entertainment throughout the day, including the senior center’s own Rockinettes and Kazoo Band.

The Robertsdale United Methodist Church handbells will also perform, along with singer Debbie Trotti, among others.

Pictures with Santa will also be available, along with door prizes and concessions sold throughout the day.

Along with the event will be a benefit fundraiser for Kenny Lassitter. Boston Butts will be pre-sold for pickup on Saturday at a cost of $30 each. To order call Bill Patterson at 251-979-5952, or the senior center at 251-947-8973.

Fried fish and pork plates will be sold at the event at a cost of $7 each.

The Christmas Bazaar is the longest running fundraiser for the Senior Center, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, said Senior Center Activities Director Sarah Duncan.

“The city provides vehicles for us, but we have to pay for fuel and other expenses for travel outside the senior center,” Duncan said. The fundraiser also helps fund extra transportation and lodging to the annual state Master’s Games, held every year in Chambers County.

Participants recently returned from another successful games, Duncan said.
