James Arther “Punkin” Selzer Jr., 43, died Monday, June 16, 2008 in Uriah.

He was a native of Porsmouth, Va., and a resident of Eureka Landing. He was a member of the Beat 1 VFD, an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt and fish, and loved the Alabama River. He was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and loved the Indian ways and culture.

Survivors include his wife, Carrie “Mrs. Punkin” Selzer of Eureka Landing; daughter, Jessica “Little Punkin” Selzer of Eureka Landing; his parents, Jim and Linda Slezer of Little River; and two brothers, Joey Selzer of Lindsay, Okla., and Robert Selzer of Little River.

Visitation was held Thursday, June 19 at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, Atmore. Graveside services followed at Whitmire Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla., with the Rev. Robert Throw and the Rev. Ronnie Williams officiating.

Pallbearers were Jimmy England, Holly Wiggins, Steven Ikner, Scott England, Charles “Chuck” Gibson and Ronnie Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Ricky Williams, Bill Brandt and Houston McGhee.

Arrangements were made by Petty Funeral Homes LLC, Atmore.
