SmartBank has added veteran banker Stephen Schlautman to its Fairhope team, strengthening its presence in the growing Baldwin County market.
According to a news release, Schlautman joins as senior vice president and corporate relationship manager, bringing more than 20 years of experience in commercial banking and relationship management across Alabama. He will support client services and contribute to the bank’s continued growth in the region.
“We’re pleased to have Stephen join the SmartBank team,” said Market President Jake Defee in the release. “His deep understanding of the Alabama financial landscape and his unwavering commitment to his clients aligns seamlessly with our mission. We look forward to the leadership he will provide as we continue to grow our presence in Fairhope.”
Schlautman has held leadership roles throughout his career, building expertise in lending, client partnerships and team development. He earned a Master of Business Administration with a focus in finance and a Bachelor of Science in business with a minor in accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi. He also completed programs through the University of Pennsylvania and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
