Sand in My Boots is officially returning to Gulf Shores next spring, bringing back a massive event to Alabama’s beaches that took a year off last year due to scheduling and time constraints.
Festival organizers confirmed the event on Monday, Oct. 19, a few days after Foley News reported city officials discussed it at a coffee chat at Happy Pappy’s.
A date has not been confirmed, nor has a lineup. Festival organizers told Gulf Coast Media the lineup has again been curated by country music star Morgan Wallen. It is not clear yet whether he will be performing, like he did tow years ago for the inaugural rendition of Sand in My Boots.
The music festival, which takes places on the beaches of Gulf Shores each spring, has roots going back over 15 years ago to a benefit concert after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. It has evolved through various music styles, with recent years holding the moniker of Hangout Music Festival, a pop lineup that many residents voiced concern about over attendance demographics and behavior. Sand in My Boots was the answer to that, transitioning the festival to a country and rap lineup that was more widely accepted with lower arrests and more local spending.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to Gulf Coast Media for updates.
