Norman Joseph Sanchez, 65, born Nov. 1, 1943 in New Orleans, died Saturday, June 20, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He earned an MBA from Louisiana State University and worked as an auditor for the LSU system. He was an avid LSU Tiger fan, loved cooking for his family and had a sense of humor that endeared him to so many. At the time of his death he was retired and living in Fairhope. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leo P. Sanchez and Bertha L. Sanchez.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Sandy Lea Bloodworth Sanchez; son Norman David (Betsy Berry) Sanchez; daughter, Sherry-Lea Bloodworth; two grandsons, Brendan Bloodworth-Palm and Dominic Bloodworth-Palm; brother Leo G. (Dianne C.) Sanchez; sister, Carol A. McKee; four nephews, Billy J. McKee, David M. McKee, Gary S. Sanchez and Michael P. Sanchez; niece Janet M. Goins; grand nieces, nephews and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kenner, La. Internment will follow at Garden of Memories.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge in Birmingham; UAB Cancer Center in Birmingham; or Mercy Medical in Daphne.
