Shannon Kay Salter and Arthur Glenn Fussell Jr. were united in marriage Aug. 23, 2008 at the Auburn United Methodist Church Founders Chapel in Auburn. The Rev. Charles Cummings officiated at the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Thomas Salter of Foley. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Patrick Lindsley and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ghale Thomas Salter.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Glenn Fussell Sr. of Notasulga. He is the grandson of Leeda Pruett Waler and the late Marion Leroy Walker, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fussell.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of ivory lace that featured an overskirt with scalloped lace edge. The hemline of the dress repreated the scalloped edge and extended onto a chapel length train.
The fitted bodice of the dress was accented with vertical tucks, a sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves. The back of the bodice featured kissing buttons. She wore a veil of silk illusion that was held in place with a comp of pearls and crystals.
She carried an arrangement of ivory flowers including hydrangea, roses, lilies, orchids and Queen Anne’s lace. Her flowers were tied with ivory lace and included a handkerchief that was her maternal grandmother’s.
The bride was attended by Laurel Elsie Money, niece of the bridegroom, of Opelika. She wore a dress of purple with an overskirt of organza and a satin band along the hemline. She carried a bouquet of green hydrangea and green roses.
The bridegroom was attended by Lonnie Paul Money Jr., nephew of the bridegroom, of Opelika.
Ushers were Sean Patrick Salter, brother of the bride, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Paul Nathaniel Fussell, brother of the bridegroom, of Birmingham.
Program attendants were Kelly Etheridge of Birmingham and Karen Pruett of Auburn.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Sandra Watwood, pianist and organist, and Dorsey Tippett, vocalist.
Chapel flowers were mixed arrangements featuring purple hydrangea, roses and iris and green hydrangea, and roses along with Queen Anne’s lace.
A reception at Terra Cotta Cafe followed the ceremony.
After a honeymoon trip to New Orleans, the couple resides in Statesboro, Ga.
