Ruth Utsey Yates, 86, a native of Aquilla, Ala. and resident of Fairhope, passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2011.
Ruth was a graduate of Millry High School. She was formerly employed with the USAF-SMAMA-McClellan AFB in California. She was also a member of Daphne United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan T. Yates; parents, Gaines and Thelma Utsey; sisters, Vivian Flynt, Jacquelyn Flynt and Vera Robertson; brothers, Joseph Utsey and Frank Utsey.
She is survived by her sisters, Loui Saunders, of Fairhope and Barbara Stevens and her husband, Jack, of Mobile; brothers, Mack Utsey and his wife, Frances, of Biloxi, Miss., W. J. Utsey and his wife, Mary Jean, of Millry, Ala., Ray Utsey and his wife, Lurlie, of Mobile; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at noon. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service time.
Graveside services and interment will be held in Mobile Memorial Gardens, Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at 2 p.m.
