Russell Wayne Ford, 81, a native of Illinois and resident of Spanish Fort, passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2014.

He served in the USAF, followed by a decorated 33-year career with the Illinois State Police, retiring as a lieutenant.

Russell graduated from Nashotah House Seminary in Wisconsin in 1967, and was ordained into the Episcopal priesthood. His ministry began and ended with him working with those in correctional facilities, as well as several churches in Illinoia and Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marie Ford; and his brother, George Ford.

Russell is survived by his loving wife, Julie C. Ford; his son, Michael W. (Ann) Ford of Peoria, Ill.; his daughter, Mary C. (Cleve) Wagstaff of Climax, N.C.; grandchildren, Brandon (Jenna) Ford, Brad and Justin Reeser, Tiffany Megan, and Christopher and Jonathan Meacham; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at 11 a.m., at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.

In lieu of flowers, his family wishes donations be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church or the Salvation Army.
