The Orange Beach Lions Club will host its Sixth Annual Rubber Duck Race on Saturday, Oct. 5 at The Oasis Water Park, located at the Wharf in Orange Beach. Gates open at 9 a.m. and races begin at 10 a.m. Prizes, including a $500 grand prize, will be awarded for the fastest ducks around the Oasis lazy river. Winners need not be present to win.
Adopt a Ducks are available for a donation of $5 each, or you can purchase a “6 quack” for $25. Ducks are available for purchase at the following Orange Beach locations: Regions Bank, Centennial Bank and Computer Backup. For more information about buying ducks or sponsorship opportunities, call 251-968-5683.
During the family-friendly event, up to 1,000 pre-numbered rubber ducks will be launched in heats. The first 20 ducks in each heat qualify for the championship race and the $500 first prize. Many other prizes will be awarded throughout the day. Proceeds benefit Orange Beach Lions Club programs.
The Orange Beach Lions Club, now in it's 28th year, meets the first and third Wednesdays of the month at noon at Cobalt Restaurant. Visitors and new members interested in working together to serve their community while having fun are always welcome.
