Roy Sumpter McNeil, Jr., age 89, a native of St. Stephens, Alabama, and a resident of Silverhill, Alabama, passed away on Sat., Jan. 17, 2026. Mr. McNeil worked at Scott Paper from 1959 until 1991. After retiring from Scott, he worked part-time as a charter captain. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a long-time member of Robertsdale Masonic Lodge 821. Mr. McNeil was preceded in death by his father, Roy S. McNeil; mother, Thelma C. McNeil; and sister, Dorothy M. Garris. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bonnie McNeil; children, Roy S. III (Amanda) McNeil, Walter (Shawna) McNeil, and Andrew (Courtney) McNeil; grandchildren, Bradley (Patricia) McNeil, Austin (Chris) Childress, Ben McNeil, Colin McNeil (Reagan), Maggie McNeil, Olivia McNeil, and Brooke Brill; great grandchildren, Sloan, Bonnie, Scottie, Micah, Jhett, and Baron; nephew, Joe Garris, Jr.; and niece, Joanna Garris. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life honoring Roy on Sun., Jan. 25th, 2026, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Silverhill Community Center.
