Rosie Heidelberg Pope was a native and lifelong resident of Silverhill, Alabama. She passed away at home on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, at the age of 87. Mrs. Pope went to business school and worked a few years for a finance company. Most of her working life was farming. Rosie farmed with her family and continued to farm and work outside until her body was not able. It was only a few months ago that Mrs. Pope was still driving a tractor and working outside. She was a hard worker, working on the farm and having flower gardens and vegetable gardens. She was an excellent cook - everything was good! Sweets of all kinds were a specialty. Pies, cakes, coffee cakes, cookies and "real" Kolaches (the ones with a rich sweet filling) are just a few of her treats to mention. Everything was homemade to include the jellies and jams that helped to make these "treats" so delicious. Mrs. Pope also loved animals and in her earlier years loved to Brim fish. She has always enjoyed going to the Silverhill First Baptist Church and especially enjoyed her Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Pope is preceded in death by her husband, Walter W. Pope and is survived by her two sons, Mark Pope (Katherine), Chris Pope (Valerie), five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Mack Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Kimbro officiating. A visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Silverhill Cemetery, Silverhill, Alabama.
