Roll back an hour for daylight saving time, change smoke alarm batteries

DAPHNE, Ala.—The Daphne Fire Department reminds homeowners that when you turn the clocks back an hour this weekend, also change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

You should have a smoke detector in each bedroom and in the hallway leading to the bedrooms, the department states. You should also have a smoke detector on each level of your house if you live in a multi-story residence.

If your smoke detectors are electric, clean the smoke detector by vacuuming the detector to make sure that dust has not clogged the sensor that detects the presence of smoke.

Daylight saving time begins Sunday.
