Michael W. Rohman, 57, a native of Decatur, Ill., and a resident of Gulf Shores, died Sunday, May 18, 2008.

He was born Sept. 9, 1950, to William C. and Esther F. Rohman. He attended Mt. Zion schools, and was active in the volunteer fire department service for about 35 years. He was promoted to Captain before moving to Gulf Shores in 2001. He liked fishing, hunting and gardening.

He married Betsy Oliver, who is Craig Rohman's mother. They later divorced and he married Patricia Murphy and raised Christopher and Bradley Rohman. He attended Shell Banks Baptist Church from year 2001.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Rohman, and a brother, David.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, William and Mildred Rohman of Gulf Shores; three sons, Craig Rohman of Gulf Shores, Bradley Rohman of Mt. Zion, Ill., and Christopher Rohman of Mt. Zion, Ill.; step-brother, Frank Neal of Cerro Gordo, Ill.; step-sister, Bette Guirnot of Houston; three grandchildren, six aunts, one uncle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; Vicki and other Zientara families.

Services and visitation were held Wednesday, May 21 at Shell Banks Baptist Church, Gulf Shores with Pastor Billy Byrd officiating. Interment followed at Shell Banks Baptist Cemetery.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Gideon Bible Association.
