Rochelle Green, born Jan. 26, 1922 in McKenzie, Ala. to Mary Frances and Clinton Blackstone Hester, passed away at the home of her daughter in Atlanta on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.
The 10th of 11 children, Rochelle grew up on a farm, growing peanuts, cotton and corn in the rural traditions of the South.
In 1940, Rochelle married her high school sweetheart, John T. Green of Georgiana.
John and Rochelle were civilian employees of the United States Air Force at Brookley Field in Mobile before being transferred to McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, Calif.
In 1976, they retired to Gulf Shores to a life of golf, boating and community service as Rochelle became president of the Gulf Shores Golf Club Ladies League and treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion.
Rochelle enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends and her three daughters.
She was preceded in death by John T. Green; and son-in-law, Randy Brown.
She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Roberts Kittrell (Mac), Phyllis Brown and Cindy LeBlanc (Alan); four grandchildren, John Roberts, Christina, Ali and Alan LeBlanc; and two great–grandchildren, Thomas and Sarah Roberts.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at Pine Rest Funeral Home. The visitation will be from noon until time of the service. The interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
