Robertsdale Wawa now open

If you missed the grand opening of Baldwin County's second Wawa location on Aug. 29, there's no need to worry. You can still get free stuff.

The first 100 customers received a free T-shirt at the Robertsdale location, 21022 Hwy. 59, and the more-than-a-gas-station is offering free coffee of any size through Sept. 8.

First-day guests were treated to a hoagie-building competition between Robertsdale police officers and firefighters as well as a drumline performance from Robertsdale High School band members. The Wawa Foundation also announced a grant to Feeding the Gulf Coast.

Wawa customers can grab any of the standard gas station essentials as well as made-to-order hoagies and other hot food

The company also held a grand opening the same day in Mobile for the city's first Wawa location at 7095 Cottage Hill Road. A company statement said Wawa plans to open seven to 10 new sores in Baldwin and Mobile counties in the next three to four years, anticipating the creation of hundreds of jobs.

Wawa's first store in Alabama opened April 25 in Fairhope after breaking ground in June 2023. A second Mobile store is under construction at 664 Schillinger Road with a targeted opening toward the end of the year, and a second Fairhope location, at State Hwy. 181 and 104, is projected to open early next year.
