Robertsdale softball team to host second Breakfast With Santa Saturday at fire department

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. -- The Robertsdale High School Lady Bears softball team is once again getting into the giving spirit, hosting the Second Annual Breakfast With Santa event, sponsored by the Lady Bears Booster Club, from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Robertsdale Volunteer Fire Department.

The Lady Bears will once again be selling breakfast plates, including pancakes, sausage, and choice of drink (apple juice, milk, coffee or hot chocolate) at a cost of $5 per plate.

The fundraiser will provide funds for the Lady Bears to attend the seven scheduled tournaments for the 2014 season, said Head Coach Barry Roberts.

It’s also an opportunity for the Lady Bears to give back to the community.

“It’s so much fun,” said Carmen Vivar, one of the Lady Bears senior leaders for 2013-14.

Vivar said she had it on good authority that Santa would be making an appearance at Saturday’s event, bringing two elves along with him.

“I remember when I was a child how I would look forward to meeting with Santa and telling him what I wanted for Christmas,” she said. “It’s such a thrill to see that same look that I used to have  now on other children’s faces.”

There is no charge for the Santa photos, Vivar said.

The Lady Bears also made their annual trip to Catholic Social Services this past week, delivering toys to the facility in Robertsdale on Wednesday.
