ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Robertsdale Police are continuing to investigate a possible threat being spread around social media of a “shootout” Monday morning at Robertsdale High School.

An updated release by the RPD was posted on Facebook at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, stating that police opened an investigation and are continuing to investigate the threat and its origin.

“The threat is very vague and only describes the school as ‘Rhs,’” according to the release. “There is nothing else specific in the post that would identify Robertsdale High School as being the school referenced.”

There is a possibility that this originated in another part of the country and may not even refer to Robertsdale High School. Robertsdale Police Department has been in contact with other states that had threats on social media on this date that also have schools with the initials of Rhs, according to the release.

The Robertsdale Police Department did have an increased presence at the high school on Monday “in an abundance of caution and to insure the safety of our students.”

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department and ALEA assisted in the investigation.

“The case is still under investigation and if the person or persons responsible do prove to be from this area, they will face criminal charges,” according to the release.
