ROBERTSDALE, Alabama --- A pair of Robertsdale residents, who gained fame on the hit CMT series Sweet Home Alabama, are getting together for a new CMT series, which will be based in Georgia, it was announced today by the network.
Cody Harris, who is being billed as a “rodeo cowboy” and Tristan Smith, a nursing student, both from Robertsdale, will be among 10 former cast members from the show, which was filmed primarily at Dorgan’s Inn and Oak Hollow Farms in Fairhope and locations throughout Baldwin County, on the new series, “Southern Nights.”
The new series premieres at 9 p.m. April 7 on CMT with two back-to-back new episodes and six additional episodes airing every Saturday at 9 p.m.
“Some relationships will begin and others will be tested as past conflicts resurface and different lifestyles collide,” according to a statement issued by CMT on Tuesday. “Throughout the eight-episode series, they will explore the best of the South -- from rodeos and ranches to upscale nightclubs and tailgate parties.”
Harris was featured in season one of Sweet Home Alabama while Smith made it all the way to the end of season two, winning the heart of bachelor Tribble Reese.
“Raised in a family that has strong roots in the rodeo, he has emerged as a young rising star,” Harris’ bio reads, while of Smith it says, “Without her Southern roots, she says she wouldn’t be here today.”
Other cast members include:
• Cassie Rupp, a journalist from Dighton, Kan., was featured in season two.
“She is a farmer's daughter who was brought up helping on the family farm, riding horses, spending time at the nearby lake and enjoying the small things in life,” according to the release.
• Collin Varallo, a landscape company owner from Birmingham, Ala., participated in season one.
“He considers himself a true Southern gentleman and believes football is a religion,” the release reads.
• Courtney Wilkerson, a small-town Southern girl from Theodore, Ala., was featured in season two.
“She finds her family and friends two of the most important things in life.”
• Devin Grissom, the bachelorette in season one, is a public relations student at the University of Alabama from Cordova, Tenn.
“An avid sports fan, she hopes to have a successful sports broadcasting career in the future.”
• "Jersey" Jeff Miranda, a red-carpet personality and performer from Newark, N.J., was featured in season one.
“He considers himself to be New Jersey's most sought-after bachelor.”
• Kristina Kraus, a stylist from Orange County, Calif., was a cast member in season two.
“She loves her "OC lifestyle," which involves tanning every day, wearing hair extensions and getting crystals on her nails.”
• Landon "Tex" Chase, a firefighter and paramedic from Fort Worth, Texas, was featured in season three.
“He is a self-proclaimed ‘good ol' boy’ and avid hunter.”
• Michael "Flex" Dean, a personal trainer, actor and model from Las Vegas, was part of season one.
“He leads a healthy and active lifestyle away from the hustle of the Strip and is amazed by the outdoor beauty Nevada has to offer.”
