FOLEY, Ala. — There are going to be some bear tracks on the golf course Saturday, May 14 as the Robertsdale High School Bear Club hosts their first annual Bear Club Golf Tournament at Glenlakes Golf Club in Foley.
Beginning at 9 a.m., this event is open to the public with registration at 8:30 a.m. at the clubhouse. Registration fee is $250 for a three man team that includes 18 holes of golf and lunch and spots are still available, said Baldwin County Sheriff Huey “Hoss” Mack, event coordinator.
“This is the first time we have done this but we wanted it to coincide with the Spring football game on Friday, May 13 and the proceeds from this will go toward equipment purchases and upgrades for the football team,” Mack said.
Some of the needs for the team include new headsets for the coaches to use on the field during the games, video equipment for recruitment purposes, new pads and helmets to replace the worn ones and knee braces for the offensive linemen as a preventative measure to reduce knee injuries during the season, Mack said.
“I encourage all RHS alumni to come out and play and support the team. We are hoping this will become an annual event and something that people will be excited about,’ Mack explained.
Sponsorships available for the tournament include Corporate ($500) and Event Partner ($1,000), Mack said.
Those wishing to register before Saturday can contact the RHS field house at (251) 947-5467.
