ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — Around 300 to 400 people came out to Robertsdale Elementary School on Thursday night to support the fundraising efforts at the ”Best of RES.” Kicking off the evening at 5 p.m., those in attendance were treated to some delicious food provoked by LA BBQ for $5 a plate and got to bid on some really unique items on display in the cafeteria, including many opportunities to bid on spending an hour with some community and school leaders.
Some of the participants included Robertsdale Mayor Charles Murphy, Robertsdale Police Chief Brad Kendrick, Ashley Kucera, sales associate, Campbell’s Hardware; Patricia Campbell, Visions Bank; Peggy Nelson, Regions Bank; CBMS Principal Chuck Anderson, RHS Principal Teresa Bryant, RES Principal Faye Sheppard, RES Assistant Principal Mark Doherty, RES Assistant Principal Diane Holmes, Water Boy/Girl for Spring Football game May 13 with RHS football coach Scott Phelps, Bat Boy/Girl for home baseball game with RHS coach Kevin Raley, Water Boy/Girl for Varsity Soccer game with RHS Coach Rachel Baker, P.E. Teacher for the day with RES Coach Levens and Nelson, Alligator Feeder with Alligator Alley, RES Art Assistant with Gabrielle Jones, RES Music Assistant with Susie Vivar, RES Library Assistant with Sandra Sawyer and Car Line King or Queen (can drop off or pick up in front of school for the remainder of the school year).
Meanwhile in the multipurpose room, several vendors displayed their goodies while the band and choir provided musical entertainment for the evening.
Lauren Sanders, event coordinator, said she was very pleased with the turnout and hoped they were able to meet their $70,000 goal for new playground equipment.
