Robertsdale Elementary students raised $4,800 in their fifth annual Hug Day fundraiser benefiting the Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center Care House on Feb. 13.
This year's Hug Day had a Disney theme, and teachers, staff and students dressed the part with princesses and other character favorites seen roaming the halls throughout the day.
Last year, the school raised $4,525 in the event. With $600 raised in 2022, $1,250 raised in 2023 and $3,750 raised in 2024, nearly $15,000 has been raised with this event.
As previously reported by GCM, Hug Day was started in 2021 by Shannon Rubio, one of the school's counselors, who wanted a way to support the Care House. The school holds the event as close to Valentine's Day as possible.
