Robert J. Ferrill, 82, a native of Biloxi, Miss., and a resident of Silverhill, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010 after a brief illness.
He was an avid fisherman and a fan of theAlabama Crimson Tide football team. He was drafted into the U.S. Army where he was deployed to the Korean War Zone and was awarded the Bronze Star for heroism in ground combat and was honorably discharged.
He was a master Mason with the S.B. Adams Lodge #884. He retired from Mobile Paperboard in 2000 after many years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Willie Mae Ferrill; brother, Gerald Ferrill; sister, Wilda Dale Ferrill; and a son, Reid Shawn Ferrill.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carol L. Ferrill of Silverhill; two sons, Michael (Dana) Ferrill of Spanish Fort and Scott (Joyce) Ferrill of Silverhill; daughter, Kelly Ferrill of Silverhill; two brothers, Tom Ferrill and Steve Ferrill, both of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters, Brenda Pelaez and Deane Hungerford, both of Biloxi; six grandchildren, Jake, Emily, Lydia, Ellen, Colin and Kelsey; and two great-grandchildren, Will and Shelton.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9 at Mack Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at 3 p.m. at Silverhill Cemetery with the Rev. Arnold Tillman officiating.
