Riviera Utilities will mark National Drinking Water Week with a family-friendly celebration at the Foley Sports Complex on Thursday, May 7 from 5 to 7 p.m., highlighting the crews and infrastructure responsible for delivering clean water to the community.
The event will take place in a ballpark-style setting and is designed to recognize what the utility describes as the “All-Stars” behind the tap, including field crews, treatment staff and support teams who maintain daily operations and keep water flowing throughout the system.
Organizers say the evening will feature food and activities aimed at families and children, including hot dogs fresh off the grill served with chips and cookies, ice-cold water and hydration drink mixes along with sport popsicles intended to help attendees cool down.
Younger participants will receive yellow and orange sweatbands and sporty temporary tattoos applied with water. The event will also include “Hydration All-Star” trading cards featuring Riviera Utilities water system employees in action.
A touch-a-truck experience will give attendees an up-close look at utility vehicles and equipment used to maintain and operate the water system, offering a hands-on educational component to the celebration.
National Drinking Water Week is observed annually during the first full week of May and is recognized across the United States as a way to highlight the importance of safe drinking water and the professionals who provide it.
