On November 17, 2011, the Foley Public Library, Friends of the Library and South Baldwin Literacy Council received a generous donation of $1,200.00 from the Rikard Charitable Trust, administered by Frank and Jennie Rikard.
The Friends of the Library, Public Library and Literacy Council formed a partnership aimed at providing a safe, comfortable, private setting with computers and software specifically designed to teach reading.
Literacy Council volunteers trained in the use of the Reading Horizons software now have “classroom” access whenever the library is open.
For more information on literacy programs, contact Susanne Avery at the South Baldwin Literacy Council, 943-7323 or Steve Horn, Foley Public Library, 943-7665.
