ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Laighton Mitchell, son of Teddy and Susan Mitchell, has achieved Boy Scouting's highest rank, that of Eagle Scout.  Laighton, 15, is a member of Boy Scout Troop 47, under the leadership of scoutmaster Seth Peden.  Laighton began his scouting career in Troop 47 and continued through achieving the highest award, Eagle Scout.

As a member of Troop 47, Laighton has held numerous leadership positions including quartermaster, webmaster, Color Guard captain, and assistant senior patrol leader. He has earned 29 merit badges, and the World Conservation Crest. Laighton has attended both winter and summer camps at Camp Maubila.

For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Laighton coordinated and planned a gardening workstation at Fairhope Intermediate School. Under his direction, scouts and adult volunteers completed the project on the campus of Fairhope Intermediate School.

Laighton is a freshman at Robertsdale High School and an active member of the Robotics Club, NJROTC, bowling team and Scholar’s Bowl team. He also serves as a Student Government Association member for his Freshman Class. He reached his goal of Eagle on Dec. 17, 2015 and will receive his Eagle badge during an Eagle Ceremony on March 12.
