RHS cheerleading clinic draws over 30 participants

ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — The Robertsdale High School Golden Bears varsity and junior varsity cheerleading squads hosted a fundraising clinic Aug. 1-3 in the gym at Robertsdale Elementary School.

The annual clinic drew more than 30 participants this year and one of the highlights will be an on-field pre-game performance for the Robertsdale Golden Bears varsity home opener Aug. 26 at J.D. Sellars Stadium.

The camp was open to participants from 4-years-old up to sixth grade. Instruction includes jumping, tumbling, cheers and chants, as well as a dance that campers will perform during the pre-game festivities. There were also arts and crafts activities for younger campers.

Proceeds from the camp help pay expenses for the RHS squads to attend the Halftime Extravaganza, which will be during Auburn University’s Homecoming game versus the University of Louisiana Monroe on Oct. 1. More than 2,000 cheerleaders from around the country participated in last year’s event.

The RHS varsity squad is coached by Tracy Robbins. Stephanie Kroll coaches the JV squad.
