Calling all cops!
Retired police officer Alan Ludtke from Beloit, Wisc., called The Islander to say, “We don’t want to retire: we want to serve Baldwin County in any way possible to make our lives count for humanity.”
Retired Customs officer Pamela Baker and motorcycle officer John Linowiecki feel the same about public service. They feel that retired military families and other professions bond together for social and public needs, and retired law enforcement people can do the same.
Pamela Baker said, “Include my husband Jim. He could not attend this initial planning meeting, but he’s enthused about the potential of an organization such as this one.”
The trio wishes to participate in fund-raising and activities designed to serve the needs of kids and the aging population in Baldwin County. The organization will include couples and families. Once organized socially, they can learn where they can serve best and respond to these public needs.
The initiators are calling a get-together at the American Legion Post on Highway 59 between County Roads 6 and 8 on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 6:30 p.m. Call Alan Ludtke at 251-923-6329 for details.
