Turnout was about half of what was expected, said organizer Frankie Kucera, but 98 cars braved the heat and threat of rain for Saturday’s event.

Kucera and the Gear Jammers also hosted a remembrance on Memorial Day, although the event was moved indoors to the Little Bohemian Hall in Silverhill.
Robertsdale held its annual Memorial Day remembrance at Coley Park with the city handing out Bibles to 12 veterans, including guest speaker Harold A. “Trey” Koons III. Also receiving Bibles were John Delbert Loeffler, Woodward W. Day III, Richard L. Wallace, Betty Wallace, Ron Raven, Gerald Dewayne Adams, Doyle Godwin, Donald Stewart and Charles Duckworth, along with Paul Hollingsworth and Fernando D. Lopez, who were unable to attend the ceremony. Observances were also held May 28 at the William F. Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette.
The threat of Sub-Tropical Storm Alberto in the Gulf of Mexico did not deter residents from honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice with Memorial Day observances over the May 28-30 Memorial Day weekend.
