FOLEY, Ala. — The Baldwin County Board of Education will hold registration for preschool inclusion in the South Baldwin area next week.
Parents can sign up nondisabled/typical preschool students 1-3 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Foley Elementary School.
According to information provided by the BOE, the preschool inclusion classroom will consist of preschool children with special needs and non-disabled/typical preschool students.
Class size is limited so that each child can benefit from a small group and more individualized instruction. BOE officials said children enrolled also have the opportunity to attend a high-quality preschool program at a discounted rate as well as benefit from learning how to celebrate and appreciate the diversity of others.
The weekly rate of the program is $40-$60. However, reduced rate of $40 will be dependent on student free/reduced lunch status.
The process begins with a screening team, designated by the school’s principal and the Central Office, reviewing the applications for suitability and acceptance into the program for typical students.
Typical students must be at least 4 years old to enter the program. Students will attend the program during the regular school hours.
That consists of a prekindertargen unit staffed with a certified teacher and an instructional paraprofessional trained in early-childhood education and child development.
Parents of typical students are responsible for transportation and timely drop off and pick up of their child. Plus, the Baldwin County Public Schools Student Handbook and Code of Conduct and all local school policies and procedures shall apply to all students enrolled in the Inclusion Preschool Program.
All applications are due on the day of screening. Also, make up screenings will be held 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, at Robertsdale Elementary School in Robertsdale.
