FAIRHOPE, Ala. - When the Fairhope Pirates and the Daphne Trojans square off in the annual "War on the Shore" rivalry game at 7 p.m. at W.C. Majors Field on Friday, more than just rivalry bragging rights will be on the line.

The Pirates (6-1, 5-0) and the Trojans (5-2, 5-0) are tied for first place in the 6A Region 2 standings and a win for either team would give that team the region championship. Elsewhere in the region the Foley Lions (4-3, 3-2) could go a long way to securing a playoff seed with a road win against Northview on Friday. Foley lost to both Fairhope and Daphne but defeated Enterprise, who they are currently tied with for third place in the region. The Lions play at Northview tonight and visit region foe Dothan next Friday. Robertsdale (2-5, 1-4) needs help from other teams to reach the playoffs but could help itself with a home win against Enterprise (Friday) and a road win at Baldwin County next Friday.

5A REGION 1: In Class 5A Region 1 the Spanish Fort Toros (7-0, 5-0) have secured first place in the region and visit Ladd-Peebles Stadium to face LeFlore (3-4, 3-2) Thursday. St. Paul's (5-2, 4-1) and Vigor (5-2, 4-1) face each other Friday for sole possession of second place in the region, and Gulf Shores (4-3, 2-3) is just outside the top four. A Gulf Shores win against Williamson (0-7, 0-5) could help the Dolphins sneak into the playoffs as a four-seed. Gulf Shores lost to St. Paul's, Vigor and Spanish Fort but holds a tie breaker against LeFlore.

3A REGION 1: The Bayside Academy Admirals (3-4, 3-2) are in fifth place in the 3A Region 1 standings but hold a tie breaker against fourth-place W.S. Neal (4-3, 3-2) in the event of a tie. The Admirals visit Cottage Hill (0-7, 0-5) in region play on Friday and host Southside-Selma (2-5, 1-4) next Friday.
