Red Clay Strays to headline Regions Arena grand opening in Mobile

The Red Clay Strays are coming home for a milestone performance as the Mobile band prepares to headline the grand opening of Regions Arena on Friday, March 26, 2027.

The hometown show will mark the official opening of the new Gulf Coast venue for live entertainment, with St. Paul & The Broken Bones joining the Red Clay Strays for the inaugural performance, a news release said.

“We are looking forward to playing a hometown show again!” said The Red Clay Strays in the release. “We’ve been gone way too long!”

The performance comes as the Red Clay Strays celebrate the success of their acclaimed third studio album, “Grateful,” which is available through HBYCO Records/RCA Records.

“I’m incredibly excited that the Red Clay Strays are coming home to officially open Regions Arena,” Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis said. “I truly believe that this show from this chart-topping hometown band will help launch this world-class venue into a new era of concerts, sporting events, touring acts and family shows here in Mobile. The future is bright for Regions Arena, and it all starts March 26th!”

Erik Hudson, general manager of Regions Arena, said the band's role as the venue's first act makes the grand opening particularly significant.

"Welcoming the Red Clay Strays home as the first act to take the stage at Regions Arena is an incredibly special way to celebrate our Grand Opening," said Erik Hudson, General Manager of Regions Arena. "This will be a historic night for the venue and for Mobile, and it sets the stage for an exciting future of live entertainment at Regions Arena."

The Mobile band's hometown return follows a year that has continued its rapid rise from local act to arena headliner.

Rolling Stone gave “Grateful” a four-star review, calling it “an urgent, timely rec¬ord that stands toe to toe with anything coming out of the rock world.”

The 11-song album blends soul, roots rock and themes of faith, gratitude and perseverance. It includes the churning single “People Hatin’” and the romantic track “If I Didn’t Know You,” whose official music video features comedian Matt Rife and fitness influencer Mariah Morse. The video has surpassed 7 million views on YouTube.

The Red Clay Strays are currently taking “Grateful” to arenas across North America during their biggest live tour to date. The Grateful Tour ’26 has included performances at Boston's TD Garden, New York City's Madison Square Garden and Vancouver's Rogers Arena.

The tour resumes Sept. 26 with a top-billed performance at Bourbon & Beyond in Louisville, Kentucky. Upcoming headline dates include two-night runs at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, Oct. 7-8, and Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, Oct. 22-23. Additional stops include State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Nov. 13 and MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Dec. 5.

Special guests scheduled to join the band on select Grateful Tour dates include The Revivalists, Travis Tritt, Sierra Ferrell, Muscadine Bloodline, Shane Smith and The Saints, Wyatt Flores, Haley Reinhart and Brent Cobb.

The band's 2026 accomplishments have included a sold-out headline debut at Madison Square Garden and a second appearance on NBC's “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where the group performed “Don’t Wanna Know” from “Grateful.”

The Red Clay Strays also earned the Group of the Year honor at the 61st Academy of Country Music Awards. It was the band's second consecutive ACM victory after winning New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year in 2025.

The group also hosted the inaugural Red Clay Strays Fan Fest 2026, a sold-out five-night event at Abayance Bay Marina in Rexford, Montana. Other major 2026 performances have included California's Stagecoach and CMA Fest presented by SoFi in Nashville.

“Grateful” represents another chapter in the band's progression from its Mobile roots to stages around the world. The band began its recording career with the 2022 RIAA Gold-certified crowdfunded album “Moment of Truth” before releasing the acclaimed “Made By These Moments” in 2024.

That album produced the No. 1 hit “Wondering Why,” which has earned 3x RIAA Platinum certification and helped propel the band to wider critical recognition. The Red Clay Strays have since received the Americana Music Honors & Awards' 2024 Emerging Artist of the Year award, the ACM's 2025 New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year award and the Country Music Association's 2025 Vocal Group of the Year award.

For “Grateful,” the six-member band reunited with producer Dave Cobb, who previously worked with the group on “Made For These Moments.” Recording took place at Cobb's home studio in Savannah, Georgia, and the historic RCA Studio A in Nashville.

The group — Brandon Coleman on lead vocals and guitar, Drew Nix on guitar and vocals, Andrew Bishop on bass, Zach Rishel on guitar, John Hall on drums and Sevans Henderson on keyboards — developed a more collaborative recording process for the album. Members frequently worked through ideas and wrote songs collectively during recording sessions.

The resulting album draws on the band's roots-rock sound while reflecting its experiences along the way, pairing songs suited for Saturday night dance halls with those that carry the themes of Sunday morning worship.

For the Red Clay Strays, the Regions Arena performance will bring that journey back to where it began as the band takes the stage in its hometown to open Mobile's newest major entertainment venue.
