BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Baldwin County voter decisions in the Presidential Primary Election should begin appearing from precincts in the Bay Minette area minutes after polls close at 7 tonight, according to probate office staffers. Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office personnel will transport ballots from more than 40 precincts to the Baldwin County Commission Administration Building in Bay Minette for public tallying. Outlying areas may not be tallied for two or more hours due to transport time. Some election observers predict a moderate turnout for the primary, but increased interest for the November general election. In Bay Minette, about 30 voters were waiting for polls to open at 7 a.m. at the Rickey Rhodes Convention Center, one of the largest polling sites in the county. D’Wayne Dean and son David, both Republicans, were among the first to cast ballots. “If we don’t vote, there is no reason to complain,” the elder Dean said. “We have complaints about all politicians, and don’t trust any of them. They care about their cronies and whoever if filling their pockets. “We are voting for the lesser of two evils.” Results will be at baldwincountyal.gov.
