Ray Carter, 74, of Raleigh, Miss. and formerly of Moultrie and Americus, Ga., died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013 at Rolling Acres Retirement Center in Raleigh.
Born Nov. 21, 1938 in Ochlocknee, Ga., he was the son of the late Willis Marion Carter and Martha Lee Sinclair Carter.
He was the former sales manager with McKellar Motors in Moultrie and attended Calvary Episcopal Church in Americus.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bernice Mount Carter of Raleigh, Miss.; two sons, Keith Carter and wife Tammy of Pinson, Ala. and Brian Carter of Cropwell, Ala.; one daughter, Melisa Yeend and husband David of Fairhope; one stepson, Glenn Wilson and wife Tammy of Natchez, Miss.; one stepdaughter, Debbie Grant and husband Lane of Raleigh, Miss.; one brother, Guy Carter and wife Bobbie of Moultrie; six grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Cobb Funeral Chapel in Moultrie. Inurnment will be in Murphy Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Tuesday at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
