Rally Gulf Coast’s 8th annual Rally On the Runway raised $729,290 for childhood cancer research, bringing the Gulf Coast community together for a night of hope and celebration.
The event took place Thursday, March 26 at the Brownsville Community Center and featured a fashion show that highlighted the strength and resilience of children fighting cancer. According to a news release, community leaders, celebrity guests and Rally Kids shared the runway in an evening filled with inspiration and heartfelt stories.
Proceeds from the event support childhood cancer research and family programs through Rally Gulf Coast, which has raised nearly $8 million since its founding. This year’s event was made possible by Title Sponsor Sandy Sansing Dealerships and Presenting Sponsors The Bear Family Foundation and Lucy Trawick, whose contributions helped exceed fundraising expectations.
Celebrity escorts included Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons, Pensacola Ice Flyers owner Greg Harris, WEAR-TV meteorologist Allen Strum and Miss University of South Alabama and two-time childhood cancer survivor Sydnee Cantley. Together with Rally Kids, they created moments of inspiration that left a lasting impression on attendees.
Among the highlights of the night were the personal stories of Rally Kid Nohea, who is beating blood cancer, and Lita Danlag, mother of Rally Kid Rupi, who is fighting solid tumor cancer. Their experiences underscored the critical need for continued support for childhood cancer research.
“Being a part of this event reminded me that even though I still fight for my life every day, I can also dream big, hope big and believe for a better tomorrow!” Nohea said in the release.
Rally Gulf Coast remains committed to funding better treatments and supporting families affected by childhood cancer. With the success of this year’s Rally On the Runway, the organization continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and families facing cancer.
