Kellum Monroe Purvis, 80, of Atmore died Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at his residence.

He was a retired security guard with First National Bank, born Nov. 23, 1926 in Escambia County, the son of Burcell Wilson and Elen Overstreet Purvis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Helen Chandler Purvis.

Survivors include three sons, Leonard (Miriam) Purvis of Atmore, Donald (Debbie) Purvis of Mobile, and Douglas (Charlotte) Purvis of Atmore; daughter, Sheila (James) Helton of Atmore; sister, Dorothy P. Mathis; eight grandchildren, Amanda Purvis, Michael Purvis, Justin Purvis, Rachael Purvis, Rebekah Purvis, Aaron Purvis, Leigh Ann Rowland and Abby Helton; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Atmore. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 25 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. C.L. Langford officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens, Atmore.
